U1/A1 Green Map Quiz/First Day Items
This green, 1 page worksheet has a 14 item map 'quiz' on one side and on the other side, some questions about which name to use, seating needs, etc. We did this in class on the first day of class, Tuesday Sep. 3. If you needed more time to finish it was okay to take it home to do so, but the due date is Wed. 9/4.

U1/A2 Class Rules Scavenger Hunt (on class website and in Class Syllabus/Policies hand-out)
This assignment is a worksheet given in class, on a single piece of white paper, with 20 qns. on both sides. We used computers from a cart to get it started, and if students needed more time, they were to finish it as a homework assignment. It was a group item, so getting answers from other students was/is allowed.

1st Packet re Africa--Early States and Cultural PatternsThis packet is a 'solo' item. It covers the early states of Africa including the migrations of people from West Africa into other areas of Sub-Saharan Africa, and, in very general terms, the patterns of life and belief found throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. This is the first item we've done in our class notebooks. Please write a paragraph (about 1/2 page, and/or at least 5 sentences) on page 5 of your notebook. (that will be the front side of the 3rd piece of paper in your notebook).

We did these maps on a yellow piece of paper, in class, on Monday, Sept. 23. If you were able to finish in class, you don't have homework from this assignment. If you needed more time, you can finish these as homework, using the keys below. The finished version is due on Wed., Sept. 25.

Unit 1 Review GuideThis was handed out on Wed. Oct. 2. It is a group item. We will work on it in class on Friday, Oct. 4 Answers are available in the packets done during the unit, and/or in the Blue Notes Guide for the PowerPoints 'Overview of China...', 'Guns, Germs, and SHIPS', and the video guide re 'Lost Kingdoms of Africa'.
I will check to see if it's done on when we go over it, giving a stamp to those that are done, but you get to keep it until you take the test. I will collect it on the day of the test.
Practice/Review QuestionsWe also started the set of review questions and the Unite 1 Review Puzzle (the crossword) on Wed. Oct. 2. We went over the answers together in class on Thurs. Oct 3. Both the puzzle and the Practice/Review Questions sheets should be stapled to the Unit 1 Review Gde. when it's turned in on the day of the test.

Here are some resources for how to study. These may give you some fresh ideas, or simply show you that you already have good ideas. In any case, be sure to DO SOMETHING after you have your completed study guide, to work on any of the items in it that you're not 100% able to remember. Even if you don't learn ALL of it, working on some of it will make a good difference.
