U1/A2 Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment Notes
These are notes taken over the a few days. We started them on the early release day of Wed. 10/24. We finished them on Monday 10/29. Before starting the PowerPoint we looked at some fun slides about changing perspective on things--to set up the idea that the Scientific Revolution was a changing of perspective on things (with the shift from geocentric to heliocentric views of the 'universe'). During the PowerPoint we took a break to look at examples of perspective in Renaissance art. I'm including separate slideshows of those items as well.
BUT ALSO--the notes guide (below, at right) is in the form of Cornell Notes. There are some examples and guides to that in the first slide show, below. After we're done taking notes we will take time during class to reflect on them and write out questions, etc.

U3/A3 CNN Millennium--2 segments from the 17th and 18th Cent. episodes
We watched these in class on Thursday, 10/25. There was a sub that day. The video guides were due at the end of the hour, after there had been some time to go over the answers, etc.
|
In the 17th century episode we watched and took notes on the first part of it, up to about the 11 min. mark. This part focused on Newton and the Scientific Revolution.
|
In the 18th century episode, we watched the segment about the Great Lisbon Earthquake. That segment starts at about the 12 min. mark, and runs to about the 20 min. mark.

U3/A4 PowerPoint re Enlightenment Thinkers
We will take notes on the Enlightenment thinkers presented in PowerPoint, using the back side of the worksheet we did in class, on Thursday, Nov. 1. That worksheet is available below.
Later, we'll use the information from the PowerPoint, to answer the question 'Which Enlightenment Thinker was the most important to YOU?' Your answer must have 5 sentences, and use (most of) the 'PEEL' guide to writing a paragraph: state the point, give evidence, and explain the evidence. (Since we're doing a single paragraph, 'linking' is not a factor.)
