WWII Femaile Pilot Flies Favorite Fighter Plane Again
This is a news story touches on the WW2 Packet's brief description of the Battle of Britain--the plane in this story was Britain's primary fighter aircraft during that part of World War 2. The ride-along for Ms. Lofthouse is similar to that offered by the Yankee Air Museum near us, at Ypsi's Willow Run Airport.

Maps of WW2 Items
This assignment was handed out on Thursday, 4/11, when 5th and 6th hr. had a sub. The are two blank maps to fill in and a page listing the items to mark/label on those two maps.
(NOTE: There are two blank squares on the maps--some have wondered what is supposed to go in those squares. The answer is, nothing and/or anything you see as helping to explain your map.) Also, to complete your two maps, you can use the slide show below, or download/view the set of maps as they were posted in the classroom.

WW2 Crossword / Individuals in History paragraph (re Saving Private Ryan video / Band of Brothers reading)
This worksheet was handed onut after the 'Saving Private Ryan' video (or along with the 'Band of Brothers reading for those who didn't watch the video). We started the crossword together in class.
Finishing the crossword, as well as writing a paragraph to respond to the question about how much of a difference individuals make in big events like the D-Day landings were the tasks left for students to do by Monday, 4/22. Either the video or the reading would work as basis for the 'individuals in history' paragraph.
|
NOTE: The Saving Private Ryan segment above is very brutally violent in showing the nature of combat and the D-Day landings, Saving Private Ryan is rated R.
DON'T WATCH if that goes against your family/household expectations. Read the Band of Brothers reading below, instead. |
Ch 32 Building Vocabulary WW II (and Reteaching Activity worksheets, too)
We started this packet in class on Monday, 4/22. It was homework to finish the last page, originally due 4/23, but pushed back to 4/24.
